Austria will desperately need to boost up the attacking confidence as they barely managed to pull out the home victory over Moldova to get back on track in their WC Qualification campaign.
The team led by Marcelo Koller will come in the game with the struggling Finland sides as heavy favourites to pick up the victory.
Austria
The Swiss manager will have a mountain to climb top lead Austria to the World Cup in Russia. The team is four points off Serbia and Republic of Ireland at the top of group D standings and they need a serious turnaround in form if they want to see Russia next year.
Marko Arnautovic was the one who broke the deadlock with a lucky goal against Moldova 15 minutes from time. The substitute Martin Harnik confirmed the win in the dying minutes of the match.
Finland
Finland failed to find the back of the net in four of their last five matches. They conceded two quick goals in the visit to Turkey at Antalya Arena on Friday evening.
The manager Markku Kanerva is yet to celebrate the first victory in the WC Qualification campaign.
Austria vs Finland: Head to head
Austria have been much more successful in head to head clashes winning five of seven encounters with Finland. Most of them, however, happened more than 20 years ago, while the last one took place in February 2012 when the Austrians saw of their Scandinavian rivals 3-1 in Klagenfurt.
Mark Janko, Martin Harnik and Abdreas Ivanschitz were on target for Koller’s squad.
Austria vs Finland: Prediction
Austria have to be favourites on the home pitch and we consider the home win a banker bet at the odds of 4/9.
We also can’t ignore the 4/6 odds offered by the bookmakers on the hosts to keep a clean sheet.
