A fresh look Azerbaijan will be hoping to get a decent result when they host the reigning Champions Germany for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Sunday evening.
Azerbaijan made a good start to their qualification campaign with back-to-back wins against San Marino and Norway. Then they held Czech Republic to a goal-less draw before folding to a 4-0 defeat at Northern Ireland. They are currently third in the Group C standings with 7 points, same as Northern Ireland on second.
On the other hand, Germany had won in all their four qualifying matches so far. Their authority was visible in each match as they took those wins without conceding a single goal. They have scored 16 goals so far, out of which 8 came against the lowly San Marino.

There is little doubt that this Azerbaijan team is much better than what we saw in the previous years. The win against Norway and away draw at Czech Republic are strong examples of what this team is capable of. At the same time, they do lack consistency as seen in the 4-0 heavy loss against Northern Ireland.
Jochim Low’s side are playing some excellent football now. They are almost the same squad even with the absence of midfielder Mesut Ozil or tricky winger Julian Draxler. Expect nothing but another heavy win for the German side here.
