Republic of Ireland will host Iceland in one of the most interesting friendlies scheduled to kick off on Tuesday evening.
Both sides are on a good journey towards the World Cup in Russia 2018, especially the hosts who top their respective group together with Serbia.

Republic of Ireland

Martin O’Neill has been doing a tremendous job on the Irish bench over the last couple of years. The team is off to a tremendous start of the new qualifying campaign after featuring EURO 2016 in France.
Republic of Ireland have been rock-solid at the back lately having kept three clean sheets in last four matches.
However, they failed to make a major step and pick up three points against Wales on Friday evening when the neighbours shared a point by playing a goalless draw.

Iceland returned to the winning ways after the defeat to Croatia. The team did not have a tough job against Kosovo who are making their debut in the WC Qualifications.
Bjorn Sigurdarson and Gylfi Sigurdsson were on target against Kosovo they will be the main attacking options against Republic of Ireland.

Republic of Ireland vs Iceland: Head to head

Iceland will be looking to claim their first ever victory over Republic of Ireland. This will be their seventh attempt as the Irish have been much more successful over history winning four head to head clashes.
Truth be told, the last meeting between the two sides took place back in 1997 in the WC Qualification.

Republic of Ireland vs Iceland: Prediction

The bookmakers seem to have seriously underestimated the visitors here. This might be because of the head to head encounters which favour the Irish side.
However, a lot has changed since their previous meeting and Iceland became much more serious rival in the last couple of years.
We don’t expect to see a goal fest due to the defensive playing style Martin O’Neill prefers to use.

Republic of Ireland vs Iceland: Bet Tips

  • The main betting option will be Iceland not to lose at the odds of 3/4.
  • You can alternatively try with the Under 2.5 goals bet at 1/2.
