Republic of Ireland vs Wales
2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers – Europe, Group D.
Date: Friday, 24th March 2017
Kick off at 19:45 UK/ 20:45 CET
Venue: Aviva Stadium, Dublin.
Republic of Ireland are looking to make it back-to-back appearances in big competitions after they featured the Euro 2016 in France.
The Irish side has been doing quite well at the start of the new qualifying campaign and they will have a huge opportunity to make a major step towards Russia 2018 by seeing off their neighbour rivals Wales on Friday evening at Aviva Stadium.

Republic of Ireland

The hosts top the group D with ten points from four starting games. They could have easily had a perfect start, but Martin O’Neill’s men allowed Serbia a comeback in the away game in Belgrade at the very start of the competition.
Republic of Ireland managed a super important 0-1 victory in Austria in the last round when James McClean made the difference scoring the only goal of the game.

Wales

Wales dropped the ball when they only drew 1-1 with Georgia on the home pitch in the third round.
Chris Coleman obviously can’t afford a defeat to Ireland which would seriously compromise the team’s ambitions in the battle for the top two positions in the group.
Coleman will be happy to have Bale back in the team after Real Madrid’s star skipped most of the season due to a heavy injury.

Republic of Ireland vs Wales: Head to head

Wales only managed to beat Republic of Ireland once in nine attempts which is why we don’t quite fancy their chances this Friday at Aviva Stadium.
The last meeting has seen a goalless draw in a friendly back in August 2013.

Republic of Ireland vs Wales: Prediction

The stakes can hardly be higher in the clash between two neighbouring countries.
Both sides are way better at the back which is why we see a goalless draw as the most likeable of the scenarios.

Republic of Ireland vs Wales: Bet Tips

The main betting pick has to be ‘Under 2.5 goals’ at full-time, at the decent odds of 1.56 offered by Unibet.
You can alternatively go with the draw at 3.10 odds with Unibet.
