Although they have a Champions League tie looming on the horizon, Juventus will have to focus on domestic affairs as they welcome Milan to Juventus Stadium on Friday evening.
The Bianconeri have already faced the Rossoneri three times this season. In October, they lost for the first time since Massimiliano Allegri took over, and it marked the first defeat for them after winning their last seven league games. Then, the two sides met for the Supercoppa Italiana in December, and it was again the Diavolo who got the better of La Vecchia Signora to win their first piece of silverware since 2011.
Juventus and Milan again squared off for the third time in January, and this time, it was the Turin giants to see off the Rossoneri by defeating them 2-1 in the Coppa Italia. However, they come into this game having barely scraped by to earn a 1-1 draw with Udinese. Whilst it has not put their first place standing in jeopardy, Juve fans will be hoping that that was just a minor slip-up, perhaps due to fatigue rather than a sign of things to come.
October 2015 was the last time Juventus dropped any points in Serie A at their home ground, but keeping focused will be of utmost concern. They have conceded a goal in their past two Serie A matches against relegation candidates Palermo and Udinese, which could mean that Milan’s exciting attack may be able to nick a goal here. As for Vincenzo Montella’s side, they have won three on the trot as they desperately try to chase a European football spot.
At the start of December, Milan were in third and looking good to qualify for the Champions League. Although Roma and Napoli have stumbled recently, it looks highly unlikely that the seven-time Champions League winners will be able to earn a spot in European club football’s premier competition. But given that they have failed to qualify for European competition for the past three seasons, even a Europa League spot will suffice for one of football’s fallen giants. Will they be able to do a double over Juventus for the first time since the 2009/2010 season?

Juventus vs AC Milan: Prediction
Milan have been a source of frustration for Juventus this term. As noted before, the Rossoneri have won two out of their three meetings this season. And despite beating the Diavolo at Juventus Stadium, it was far from an assured result for the Bianconeri. The Rossoneri have netted in 12 out of their last 13 fixtures and more important, have scored in their last five straight home games. That could likely see them get a goal here.
Still, Juve’s home form is not to be discounted. 30 home Serie A wins is a league record, and despite drawing to Udinese on the road, they are an entirely different side when playing in front of their home fans. Expect both sides to score, but the Bianconeri to make their overall superiority count and pick up another three points to further extend their lead on top of the table.
