Netherlands seriously compromised their chances for making it to the World Cup in Russia with the away defeat to Bulgaria on Saturday evening.
The Dutch side will have a very difficult task to boost up the confidence in a friendly match with Italy who have been generally enjoying a decent qualifying campaign in the group G.

Netherlands

Danny Blind is no longer the head coach of the Dutch national team after the embarrassing performance in Sofia. The defeat to Bulgaria sees Netherlands sit at the fourth position being six points behind France at the top and three behind Sweden in the second position.
The assistant manager Fred Grim will lead the team in a friendly with Italy. A good result would be of a huge importance for the hosts, but achieving it against the in-form Italians will be easier said than done.

Italy

Italy have been rock-solid at the back in the last couple of matches since they kept three consecutive clean sheets including the friendly with Germany in November last year.
The last qualifier has seen Giampiero Ventura’s men outplaying Albania 2-0 at Stadio Renzo Barbera as Azzurri continue the contest for the very top of the group with Spain.

Netherlands vs Italy: Head to head

Italy have nine wins in 19 head to head clashes with Netherlands which is yet another parameter going in their favour ahead of the 20th encounter with the Dutch side.
The Oranje only managed to pick up three victories against the Italians. Azzurri took a 2-0 win in the last friendly back from September 2014 when Ciro Immobiole and Daniele De Rossi scored goals. Interestingly, this duo has been on target in the Saturday’s qualifier with Albania as well.

Netherlands vs Italy: Prediction

Italy have a much stronger lineup especially moving forward with Andrea Belotti and Ciro Immobole in the final third.
We see a decent value in backing Belotti to bring the shape from Torino to the national team and score anytime against the struggling Ditch side at 7/4 odds.

Netherlands vs Italy: Bet Tips

  • The first betting pick will be Italy to win at the odds of 17/10.
  • Andrea Belotti is a worthy attempt for the anytime goalscorer pick at 7/4.
