Roma will look to continue their push for second as they take on tricky opponents Atalanta on Saturday afternoon.

The Giallorossi are out of the Europa League, as well as out of the Coppa Italia after narrowly losing to Lyon and Lazio respectively. That being said, Luciano Spalletti’s side will be desperate to secure second and avoid the dreaded Champions League play-off that saw them shockingly lose to Porto earlier this season.

The team overall have had a pretty impressive campaign and have won four straight games after losing to Napoli. That also marks their only defeat in Serie A at the Stadio Olimpico this term. Edin Dzeko has been in sparkling form, and is tied with Torino’s Andrea Belotti in the race for the Capocannoniere with 24 goals. Overall, Spalletti’s side have netted in their last 14 Serie A games and should be able to so yet again in this fixture.

Meanwhile, Atalanta are out of the running for the Champions League after losing a bit of steam, but La Dea should still be proud of their season. Considering they struggled even to break into the top half of the table, they have done very well and are definitely on course to feature in the Europa League.

Currently, they find themselves ahead of teams like AC Milan, Inter, and Fiorentina – all sides many had expected to be in definite contention for a Europa League spot. In addition, they are just one point behind Roma’s rivals Lazio, and theoretically could overtake the Biancocelesti with a win.

That, however, will be easier said than done. Roma’s fearsome home record is not to be discounted, but at the same time, the Giallorossi have not picked up all three points against La Dea since November 2014.

An entertaining tie looks to be on the cards, and La Dea will certainly give the Lupi a tough time, but the hosts should be able to edge out this season’s surprise package.
