Tottenham vs Chelsea English Premier League Match Preview 19th August 2017
Tottenham vs Chelsea
2017/18 English Premier League
Date: Saturday, 19th August 2017
Kick-off at 16:00 UK/ 17:00 CET
Venue: Wembley Stadium (London).
Chelsea succumbed to a surprise home defeat on matchday 1 against Burnley. And the North London derby against Tottenham on Sunday might have come too early for Conte’s men, whose squad is thin due to injuries and suspensions.
On the other hand, Tottenham have every reason to be happy with their display on the opening match-week. They were patient against a defensively set out Newcastle United. And their persistence paid off midway through the second half and bagged two quick goals to finish off the match at 2-0. They were also helped by the red card of Jonjo Shelvy just after the break which forced the Magpies to fold into a more defensive shape.
Spurs are still without Danny Rose and Kieran Trippier, which means that Mauricio Pochettino is forced to play the youngster Kyle Walker-Peters at right back. This could be one area that Chelsea identify as their opponent’s weak point. Erik Lamela is also sidelined, but there is plenty of cover in the attacking third in the form of Dele Alli and Eriksen.
Chelsea are more hit with injuries and suspensions. Eden Hazard, Pedro and the new summer signing Tiemoue Bakayoko are short on match fitness. While the Gary Cahill and Cesc Fabregas are suspended following two horrible tackles in the season opener against Burnley. While there is a positive news for Conte in the form of Moses, who returns from suspension.

Tottenham vs Chelsea: Prediction

Tottenham made a solid start to their campaign with an away win. But their biggest test is on Sunday. Not only they face a much stronger side in Chelsea, they also have to get over the dreadful results at their temporary home Wembley. Therefore, the Blues are most likely to get away with something from this match.
