Real Madrid vs Barcelona
Spanish La Liga
Date: Saturday, 23 December 2017
Kick-Off: 12:00 UK
Venue: Estadio Santiago Bernabeu (Madrid).
Zidane’s Real Madrid will be on a massive test this Saturday when they host arch-rivals Barcelona in El Clasico. A defeat here would likely mean the farewell to the title ambitions for Los Blancos as it would put Blaugrana 14 points ahead.
Barca have done well without being as prolific as they’ve used to be over the last couple of years. This is mainly thanks to their stern defensive line which conceded no more than seven goals in 16 league outings so far. This is where we have to give credits to Ernesto Valverde whose work can clearly be noticed and who made Barca look so dominant even though there is no true replacement for Neymar and even though Luis Suarez is playing the worst season since his arrival at Camp Nou.
Zidane, on the other side, has huge issues with his team’s attacking performances. Just compare Madrid’s strikers’ stats from this time last season and now and you’ll notice a massive difference. Cristiano Ronaldo has bagged no more than four goals so far in La Liga, mainly injured Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema added two apiece. For example, Alvaro Morata has notched five goals at this point in the previous season and there is currently no man (including Ronaldo) to match this record.
Nonetheless, Madrid will come into the match as newly-crowned world champions and the fact they’ve won four on the bounce in all competitions should instill some confidence ahead of one of the most important matches of the season.

Real Madrid vs Barcelona: Predictions

Madrid proved they can be more than a match for this Barca side in pre-season when they demolished the Catalan rivals both home and away in the Super Cup final.
Nonetheless, we don’t see how Real’s out-of-form attacking line could hurt Barca’ stern defense at this stage and backing the Catalans not to concede two or more goals seems to be a decent shout at the odds of 2.20.
Alternatively, we’ll stick to Messi & company and back them to leave Bernabeu undefeated at the sky-high 1.80 odds.

Real Madrid vs Barcelona: Head-to-head

As we mentioned above, Real Madrid destroyed bitter rivals 5-1 on aggregate in two Super Cup legs this summer.
Barcelona, however, clinched the spoils in their previous league visit to Bernabeu thanks to a magnificent Lionel Messi’s goal in the dying minutes.
Five of last six H2H matches saw the BTTS option “come in”.
